PNG Textures + Slow Encoding

Two issues here, separate, but both relevant.

The first is the use of PNG textures. After importing an image into Sketchup, and exploding it to become a texture, the transparent areas start acting a little strange. The image attached explains it better, but essentially the transparent areas sort 'fix' the lighting behind it when in AO mode, but produce a large, unsightly block around the people. I know I could trim the face to the profile of the people, but the full model has a lot, and I'd prefer not to spend hours doing this if possible. This only occurs with AO on, so when off, the image is fine with point lights.

The next problem occurs at rendering/encoding. The preview window tells me it took less than a second to render the scene with AA, which I would assume means it should render more than one frame per second during encoding. Unfortunately it seems to run at that speed for the first 30~ frames, then grinds to a crawl, rendering an average of maybe 1 frame every 30 seconds or so, but generally just sort of gets stuck. Cancelling early also produces not an incomplete render, but one with a massive amount of graphical errors on 80% of the video, so the top portion is compeltely obscured.

I've run test renders with smaller files and managed to make the render finish and the final product is fine, so my suspicion is the model is too big - another machine I've tried would crash PW before reaching the preview, so maybe...

Specs are as follows:
Windows 8 64 Bit
Intel i5 Dual-core @ 2.5Ghz
8Gb RAM
2Gb NVidia VRAM

Hope there's some solution!

Forum: PodiumWalker

I am brand new to podium walker and this is my first test at creating a video.

I created about 16 views to create a key frame path which I then converted to a mp4 video file.

My question is:
There is a pause at several spots in the video. is there a way to edit those pauses out or better yet not have them be there in the first place.

I apologize for not digging harder in the instructions. I opted this time for the "jump in and try to wing it" method.
I'm working with some glass packaging models. The light is no where near the same in the way it acts, and while I can adjust the sun settings to get it close to the original that I did, the LEM itself won't like up like it does in Podium.

Also if you set an LEM to hidden in the podium settings, it still shows up in Podium Walker.

I've played with the settings to get something close to what I had in Podium, but I still can't the LEM to light up and reflect in the glass the way it does in Podium.

Basically I need what I made in Podium to render out in Podium Walker.
